Hi, any tips on getting the head down more from the withers? making the muscles from the withers stretch down so he can extend his topline down more…?
Hi Luke, Ill see how much I can type.. your horse needs to soften more thru the ribcage with suppling exercises that will allow the neck to relax and stretch for that “hung” look as we all want rather than the “wall” or stiff look…but I dont have enough space here to describe the exercise i have in mind ….so feel free to contact me thru email or by phone with text or call….218-251-2470
@crstardust
Hello, I happened to see what you are talking about…and I don’t disagree that there was much more suppleness and elevation that could be achieved. But keep in mind, what you see here is OLDER footage and it at least gets a start for people who have less lift and suppleness than i do..Since these videos I have been updating my program and it has been continuously evolving.(As Im sure you had to do with your knowledge) I can appreciate an individual with a good eye
canu send me ur email? thanks myranda!
Hi Jaime,
I know each horse is different and each might require alterations to a training program but are the “Collection” videos the basics of western pleasure or the steps to take to encourage your horse to its own full potential in WP?
Thanks, Emily
@APHAPRINCESS12
hi Emily the videos are full footage like what you see up top…..they are actual training sessions with me talking about shoulder straightness, shoulder control, drive, working on collection, rebalancing….etc…I am currently working on a very detailed and complete work for training from beginning to end western pleasure or hus or training enhancements that can transfer to gaming horses, dressage horses, or whatever discipline you ride. The keys being balance and suppleness
@APHAPRINCESS12
Currently this “Collection” is a grouping of 6 individual training sessions on random horses learning some of these processes…how it applies to horses at different stages of knowledge and physical strength and talent level… You’re right when you say this is a program of reaching an individual horse’s talent(whatever level that might be) rather than creating a Congress horse as not all horses are the right mind or physical ability for that. But, they can be the best they can
@APHAPRINCESS12
be at the highest level their individual talent will take them…Each disc is $40 if you buy them individually….if you want to purchase 5 of them for a package deal , you will receive the 6th one free….If you were able to gain any knowledge off the simple vids that are posted, then these are more specifically packed with info. If you would like to order, please email me for more info..Thanks! Jamie
Hi Jamie,
I have a question? I just recently bought my horse and she is doing wonderful but I feel like I am not to sure how to catch if she has a lot of lean or unblanced problems with her she has a really slow lope and it continious to get slower but I just can’t tell if she is driving from behind or with her front? and she likes to tuck her head at the lope a lot but she stays frounded but what is a good way to help her extend her head a lil out? THANKS!!!
hi Sassygal, That is quite a loaded question as far as multiple things that could potentially need to be worked on. The first rule of thumb is to always make sure both shoulders are square. One of my ways for checking this is looking straight down the line from the saddle horn, down the mane, and through the ears…if an arrow would hit directly in the center of the ears, you’re “square”. Another way to say it would be, make sure the right ear is pulled back in front of the right shoulder and
the left ear is pulled back in front of the left shoulder….the positioning of the ears/jaws/head assists in the straightening/control of the shoulders…which in turn domino affect to soften the back and allow the hindquarters to push through…As far as the head tuck, that would be one of the first things I would go after…..get her “on the bit”…by this I mean I would rather her be confident enough to “rut” against my hands a little impolitely than to have to seek a hiding face…but if
she’s hiding in the face, you’re gonna have lost the ability to “feel” the butt….to know if it is driving in a supportive way, or if its shoving you forward, or if its flat-out dropped off the face of the earth…hehe…anyhow, I use lots of leg yielding type movements in a small donut sized circle and mix it up….encouraging her with my hand positioning to seek my hands….its much easier to demonstrate…and I see here they have now offered a “video response” option….I will have to start
thinking about doing that…I could sit here all nite trying to describe it….but I think visual is very important….I am sorry I couldn’t get more descriptive at the moment….but I hope to address this in a video….thank you for your inquiry….I hope to talk to you in the near future!
Truly, Jamie
Hi Jamie, love your videos! Thanks for posting! I was wondering if those were pillow wraps with polo wraps you’re using? Why do you use those instead of traditional sport boots? And are they wrapped the same way standing wraps are?
Thanks so much and please keep posting videos! I’m a big fan!
@SparklyReiner87
Thanks Sparkly…..it was just quilts and polos….it helps add visibility to the very thing people (myself included) strain to see on videos which is the legs….I just have a theory that the recording of footage into digital form creates quality issues in which the legs look more spindly and jerky/quick…so I do it to “smooth” out technology issues…..if that makes sense…plus I just like it…hehe…
