I am concidering taking up horse riding lessons for an hour and a half once a month. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this ?

I have horse riding lessons once a week and the day after my lesson, the top half of my legs really ache, so it hurts when I run or even walk. This only lasts a day and then goes away. Is this normal and is there anything I can do to stop it?

They both do swimming on Saturday mornings, one does gymnastics on Thursdays and the other does ballet on Wednesdays. They are both desperate to start horse riding lessons on Saturday afternoons. I know it is expensive, but we can afford it. They are 7 on the 1st April.
