when ever Mr Monty Roberts comes to my neck of the woods i go an see his demos! he really is a living legend! and i love the fact he never preaches, just teaches! he never says his way is the right even though his ways always work! all the money he makes goes into starting new training programmes!
Getting a better relationship with your horse really helps when you speek their language! and i love that monty helps us learn that! =)

I really like these methods. I use the join up with all my horses. However… I think it is ridiculous to use a dummy arm or a dummy rider to touch the horse. If you cannot touch the horse with your own hand than you shouldnt be training horses.

I love most of the methods this trainer uses. However, I think it is ridiculous to use a dummy hand or a weighted dummy rider to touch the animal. If you cannot use your own hand, than you should not be training horses.

@phelone3560 so what do you use that works? I think I will Listen to Mr. Roberts and not listen to some one who decides to be judgmental.

  8. GlompoFie says:

@phelone3560 It’s a safety pro caution.. not to mention it’s weird and different looking. The fact that the baby accepts it touching him is a building block in his trust.

I don’t think any one system works all the time. however from what I have seen in this video it’s very similer to how I was taught and anything I can learn from someone who obviously has more knowledge than I do Is alway’s appreciated. I like the sounds of him though the type that has a good system but does not say it’s the only way. open minded. gotta appreciate that. I never thought about baloons the tarp and the plastic bags we use but never baloons.

  10. Duchesse1981 says:

I disagree. I personally have re-trained an abused mustang that got forced into the trailer by using a cattle prod. You could NOT touch him any further than his withers without him getting scared and kick you. I build the dummy hand and used it on him. Within 3 days you could use your own hand… WAAAY BETTER THAN GETTING KICKED.
Be safe at all times folks.

monty roberts is the most amazing horseman ive ever known and once had the pleasure to meet its so good to have someone out there who actually listens to the horses his methods have worked on all my pshycologically affected horses though i did not know we used the same method till i saw him live

  14. HrseRider14 says:

wow! he truly is amazing!! im doing a report on him and i love watching all his videos:) its amazing what he can do with horses:)

I believe in Monty’s methods 100%. My father taught me the same things many, many years ago. Before I even heard of Monty Roberts. My father didn’t even know who he was until I told him. Every horse I ever worked with responded just like this.
Even my rescued paint. And he was starved and beaten.

  16. Diazreta says:

This horse is an appaloosa, generally speaking they have unbelivably gentil and calm attitudes… It doesn’t suprise me that they trained it so quickly :)

  17. headshot1311 says:

i really like join-up and natural horse manship, they helped me a lot with my horse

  18. debbieloucks says:

@Diazreta Have you ever worked with a PMU? ;)

  19. 4evadressage says:

well done! fantastic video can i ask you if a horse doesnt really want to walk on and has a bit of attitude how can you want to go forward and be qwith you? THANKS XX

  20. debbieloucks says:

@4evadressage Have you achieved a Join-Up with your horse?

  21. 4evadressage says:

i suppose but she can be a bit stroppy when im trying to work with her but shes trying to get to the hay bails

  22. LadyWeasel says:

    What a beautiful horse :)

  23. debbieloucks says:

@4evadressage Join-Up is a an achievement you would know about if it happened. Its very cool! Try it and then ground manners will make some progress too.

  24. jett888 says:

It was over 15 years ago I believe that I read Monty Roberts first book “Horse Whisperer”?? This book changed my life and how I lived it with horses.
ALL of my horses have benefitted from his book- from my paint stallion to all my arabians- they all thank him too!! Love it and still use his info to this day.

  25. windspeaker114 says:

My mare always needs a hug before I touch her halter, but she wont let me get near her. she is an arabian horse standing at 14.2 hh. I tried a join up and it worked in 6 mins. she followed me around and let me hugg her. but she still won’t let my touch her out in the field.
