Purchase In A Whisper from Amazon! www.amazon.com Introduction to ‘IN A WHISPER’ with Pat Parelli, Josh Lyons & Craig Cameron- the 1st ever 3 trainer colt starting / horse training contest! MULTIPLE AWARD WINNER- An insightful & entertaining 2 hour colt starting contest featuring 3 of the best horse trainers in the world- Craig Cameron Josh Lyons and Pat Parelli- set in historical Sundance Square in Ft Worth, TX- an environment that would be challenging for even a well trained, seasoned horse. This 1st ever contest was set up as fairly as possible so each trainer would be competing on equal ground; 6 horses from the same ranch, same age, equal breeding, same gender. The only human interaction the horses experienced in the first 2 years of life was being gelded- not the best working relationship! The horses were taken to to the square & then sorted into 6 pens. Pat Josh & Craig drew from a hat for 2 horses each & had 10 minutes to choose the horse they felt could best handle the challenge. The 3 horses they chose went to individual roundpens through paneled alleyways to prevent any human handling. Pat, Josh & Craig were given just 2 ½ hours to work their horse in preparation for their challenge ride which would be judged based on the following: 1st- rail work or general handling ability, walk, jog and lope on the rail in both directions, turn backs, 360 degree turns in both directions, stopping & standing for 10 seconds and backing 2nd- obstacle course consisting of 7

Awesome! I own In A Whisper, it’s very eye-opening. I’m also almost done with Level 2 in Pat Parelli’s program. I find it amazing that he’s gained so much experience and talent since this DVD was filmed though (=

You’re invited to watch my young daughter who is breaking a Brangus to ride. This was a cow that hadn’t had contact w/humans. We couldn’t get near them just a few weeks ago. Now, she’s been haltered, saddled, bathed and is a lap cow…so to speak. Check out her progress on our YouTube site. :o ) You most definately CAN develop a relationship with a cow the same as you can a horse. Not many people even try however… :o )

Josh Lyons, who is one of the trainers who took part in this training challenge, is the son of none other than John Lyons!

I have had the experience of working young horses as well, these guys are not really working the horses extremely hard. As far as I can tell they are camly and skillfully interacting with the horse. It’s not like they’re taking a whip to them or something. I don’t know how well you know horses or not, but they were not “abusing” the horse.

  10. InAWhisper says:

I volunteer w/the MHARF & have started 10 horses- a 3 yr & 19 yr Arab, 2 yr QH, 3 -2 yr grade horses, 2 yr NSH, 2 yr Arab/QH, and just finished starting two 2 yr old QH’s- all are in perfect health without problems whatsover. There’s no abuse here.
Starting a horse doesn’t put it into full-time hard work and the trainers did didn’t harm the horses one bit.
If horses were as fragile as some people make them out to be, they wouldn’t have survived!

What an idiot!! All vets will agree that you can start most 2yo safely!! They’re bone structure is more than enough developed to handle the extra weight!! I am so sick of these froo froo english “experts”….” oh I don’t start mine until they are 4yo” well you just wasted 2 years of their working life!! Have fun on your green 4yo while I’m winning the class on my broke 4 yo.. And I also have a 36yo that was started hard as a 2yo and worked cattle and roped.. He is still sound at 36!! so there!

Perhaps it would be good if you actually understood what was happening here before judging it ?

  13. Bpruwme says:

I must have missed something. The video ended before they did anything more than pet their students. As far as abuse of 2 yr olds by way of starting them under saddle. Take your concerns to any race track where they’re young bodies are really put to the test. Most racetrack 2 yr olds, have not actually celebrated their real 2nd birthday but are two based on the breeding calendar year.

  14. jhgramfam says:

I must say that I was somewhat dissapointed. It showed them prepping as far as lots of talking but didn’t show any of the skill coming out.

  15. SugarJak says:

    ended before it started ?
