Iv’e noticed when you hand the feed to her you always hold it away from you instead of straight out. Is there a reason for that?
You always want to feed away from you, not at the food pouch. Most horses are closer than the length of my arm so I feed the length of my arm away from me so they can search for it. Never feed too close to you or your horse will be invading your space. This also teaches your horse to wait for the food.

That is a BIG 5 month old, whats her breeding? And of coures, GREAT job. Very instructive to watch!
Her mother is only 14 hands but her daddy is HUGE! She is a breeding stock paint with running blood background.
Very interesting,I understand the method a lot better and find it seems very useful. Came a long way from part1- good job!
good idea with the feeding. my pony has got targeting sorted when it comes to my hand if he thinks theres food in it!. ill work with him on giving it away from me.
I had a question, I recently purchased a horse that I feel would benefit from clicker training, but he’s 13yo G and shy around people, he’s been used for contesting for all his life and basically used/abused run into the ground draft cross. Do you feel that this would be beneficial in his case, or should I pursue another avenue of behaviorial enrichment?
I have worked with many older problem horses with this method and I truly believe this is the method. Clicker Training can be very beneficial for you and your horse. I just overhauled an 18 year old TB. Most of my students have problem horses like yours and they are making wonderful progress. One of my students is currently working with a mini mule that bites and charges, she now has a clear understanding of this mule and is doing very well.

What are the over all benifits of clicker training ?! great vid
You don’t need much equipment. For example, I use a flyswatter as a target, and make the click with my tongue. What you do need is the ability to think through what you want, and break that down into smaller chunks.
When you click a clicker that tells the horse, Yes, that is correct.” The food allows the click to mean something. You can have a conversation with your horse that no other training can. Can you Imagine if your horse did what you wanted and you could say, Yes that is what I want, and the horse did it again on their own without you telling them. There are huge benefits to this very useful training system.
