Horse tricks bowing and shaking hands

Here is our progress in bowing and a little shaking hands, too. We are getting better. It is still going to take some practice before she will stay down, but we’ll keep working on it.

well ou are on your way ! but the horse (who is so pretty) is not bowing yet . he or she must be able to bow on command . I recently taught my horse to bow and shake a hand ,hug, strike ecs . I give the command and she bows. but keep up what you are doing and she will get it though I would start putting a rope on her foot and then give the cue. then lift up her foot with the rope other wise she will only bow if you pick up her foot. lol your farrier will be suprized .anywasy good luck .

wow this looka really cool! I want to teavh my horse but is your horse still ok with having his/her hooves picked out or does he/she try to bow?

  3. Zy135 says:

She does very well getting her hooves done. She has not tried to bow when I trim her.

Horses dont move away from pressure by instinct; they move into pressure; we train them unnaturally to move away from pressure.

  6. LizaLou76 says:

When I push my horse, she moves away from the pressure to get to comfort (a natural instinct). Training to move into pressure is done often in driving and is much more difficult to train than away from pressure. She has to feel the pressure on her chest from the harness and still move into it. A difficult concept for them at first because it is not natural. They are moving towards the thing causing discomfort instead of away from it. Horses instinctually seek comfort.

Your horse is gorgeous! Is she a Gypsy Vanner? How long did it take you to train her to do this?

  9. LizaLou76 says:

She is a Drum Horse (Gypsy x shire cross) and it only took a few days to get to that point. She is really good at it now. I’ll have to put some new vids on here.

Friend of mine taught his horse to shake hands, turned out that every time someone walked in-front of her she thought you wanted to shake, unfortunately for my friend’s knees and crotch. Funniest thing ever, until it happen to me.
