Looking at ur vids SVS you have a better jumping position than this lady and release your horses head to a better more demostrative way in majority of pictures that I have looked at quickly!

    A) George Morris is the gosple! If yo don’t follow what he says, really you’re wrong…
    B) the auto realease is the hard one…

  3. StormValleyStableson 13 Mar 2010 at

    Thank you.
My theroy is that this horse is a little hot, so that she needs to keep contact with his mouth

  4. tackabilityon 13 Mar 2010 at

    A) good horse owners/riders should except all angles of advice .. there is always more than one way to suck an egg!
    B) you state the auto release technique is something designed for riders with an unsecure seat … this should be established in “basic riding” and if not achieved maybe should not be jumping!

Please do not assume just because a person does not know your way or doesnt believe your idol is the be all and end all that they are wrong! Thats plain nieve and arrogant imo!

  5. tackabilityon 13 Mar 2010 at

Surely a rider who can ride properly should have a secure seat thus the fact of George Morris’ reasons for using the auto release wouldn’t be necessary??

  6. tackabilityon 13 Mar 2010 at

A little hot?? It’ looks as laid back as a riding school pony on calmers! You should meet some fit showjumpers and event horses!

  7. StormValleyStableson 13 Mar 2010 at

HAHA! I work with hot TB racehorses and eventers! I’ve taken care of and ridden advanced level eventing horses! A horse might not look hot to be hot!

    A) Alright, so the father of all moderen Equitation is wrong. Please go tell all the equitation and jumpers out there that they have been doing it wrong and tell the USA to get a new Show Jumping coach, because he’s wrong. George Morris INVINTED proper equitation on horse back! And I stated that the auto release was for riders who HAVE AN INDEPENDANT SEAT. Go and read throughly.

  9. tackabilityon 13 Mar 2010 at

Ditto .. but you can pretty much see that this is a pretty relaxed horse as most riders performing a demo video wouldn’t really choose a “hot” horse to use as they want an easier ride to be able to demonstrate the methods … my gripe is the fact she explains a crest release but does not perform it … the whole point to this video!

  10. tackabilityon 13 Mar 2010 at

I never said HE was wrong or the method was wrong … so we both miss read each others posts! now having read it for the upteenth time I understand what you have written but why explain a crest release but do something different when teaching? Is he really reknowed to the world to be THE man who invented “proper” equitation on horseback seen as there are so many methods on how to ride a horse I don’t believe there is ONE proper way.

  11. tackabilityon 13 Mar 2010 at

We all have different idol’s who we and many others believe are truely great riders and instructors the USA have him as your SJ coach we have Christina Goosen etc etc … and maybe it depends if you want to adopt modern equitation or classical … or maybe adapt your own with taking bits from both to work best with you and your horse? It’s not always about who’s right and who’s wrong as tbh who’s got the right to choose?

  12. StormValleyStableson 13 Mar 2010 at

Yes, he is. You need to go study the equitation of riders, read and study. Everything goes back to him. He made proper equitation popular.

  13. tackabilityon 13 Mar 2010 at

Comments are getting muddled which is making our chat ever more difficult…I don’t actually know what “proper” equitation is seen as there are different types of equitation? Which are you refering to & what is “proper”? I speak differently to you but does that mean I speak properly or you do?

  14. tackabilityon 13 Mar 2010 at

I know who he is & if you were to do some studying you’d find out theres alot of people who have made the equestrian history pages in the world! George Morris is 1 & is considered a “founding father” of Hunt Seat Equitation which is one form of equitation as we know it, I do not deny he is well respected but so are alot of people! I was merely asking as to what the auto release was and tbh you didnt really answer my question!

  15. StormValleyStableson 14 Mar 2010 at

I did answer your questioin. The auto release is used by only advanced riders with an independant seat. You lower your hand and follow the horse’s head keeping a straight line from the elbow to the bit.

how else can I practice my two point position? When I try to practice at the halt and walk with my pony he spooks and try’s to unseat me… I’m able to jump with him, but I’m horrible at it and I want to get better! can you give me some tips? My pony is a brave excellent little jumper!

  23. HorseLuver4ever789on 09 Apr 2010 at

Im a beginner and im working on jumping… so pretty much you just get into your 2 point possision and follow your horse through? Or is it more complicated? I took lessons but i want to just be able to get on a horse and try a small jump. THE CORRECT WAY.
