Maier is amazing and one of the most awe inspiring presentations I have ever seen. Hard enough for most just to ride, he can ride and drive at the same time.

whats the long line training for?

a lot of people ride one friesian and long line one in front of them.

I’ve been driving for years, but I have NO idea how to even start training for any of that. Where can I learn that? Books? Videos?

Long lining allows the trainer to have most of the aids they would during riding, but be able to work & perfect the horse from the ground. Many young horses are trained with long lines prior to saddle breaking, accustoming them to the bit & commands, but it is a training method used for all ages and levels. Long lining is especially common with show & dressage horses as it allows training & working that is gentles for the back & is easy for the trainer to ensure their horse is correct.

Looks good! Except for the bowing, try it without the pulling (don’t say you didn’t pull, I know this method way to well, unfortunately…)

I love how the horse looks like it’s enjoying itself as well. That’s so important. Thanks for posting!
