So with my horse I can go under his belly (I like to lay there and scratch him belly haha) I can go between his front legs, but not his back. How do you get them to accept the back legs? We just got a foot of snow here :/ What are some other things I can do with him in the snow, I’ve done tarps, plastic begs, umbrella’s, beach noodles, and working on jogging up to him.

I have to agree with SOXFOX… Buddy just wanted to see his normal friends. That video was too funny. Im sitting here at work with headphones on watching it and laughing out loud. Now my coworkers think im a crazy human.

Being able to sit under my horse and sack out her belly from underneath saved my horses life. When she colicked, the vet came out and hydrated her and said it would pass. Later, she winced when I sacked out her belly. I told the vet to get back out there, that the horse was in real pain. The vet said every horse jumps when you touch the belly. I told her that mine did not! We got her in the hospital and saved her. I even did a vid imitating your original vid of sitting under Buddy.

And people laugh when, as part of our groundwork, I stick my head through my horse’s front legs and hind legs, and others make vulgar comments, but yes, it also feels good that my horse will stand still and let me do anything I want under the vulnerable belly. I have had in mind for a long time to do a vid of me playing a game of solitaire while sitting under the horse, just to show how you can gain mutual trust doing something most will not dare.

i really don’t understand how you talk about how people should say stupid horse for doing something wrong and they should correct them instead but through the video you said stupid horse multiple times.

  16. KatieLeoz says:

I agree with everything you shared in this video. Excellent points Rick :-)

@xGeektech1000 : I can’t tell if you are being a troll or sarcastic, watch my working with a stupid horse video.

I had a TB Appy cross that came from the race track and competitive barrel racing… he wasn’t sure what was going on the first time I picked his feet up without having him on a lead or in the cross ties. He smelled me and looked at me weird, but he was okay with it. Both of my horses were mistreated by previous owners, so I’m always doing these odd trust building exercises. :)

That had to be one of the funniest videos…from about 4:30 to the end my wife and I were crying because our sides hurt from laughing. The tripping part was classic. I watched the video with no sound and it gets even funnier. Great message…looking forward to teaching and learning with my horse.
