Thanks for showing what the beginning of cutting horse training is like. She looks like a smart athletic mare.
Q – At this point of her training how long had she been exposed to the mechanical cow?

  2. ltrocha says:

    You are welcome, fireweed.
When we shot this video, the filly had been on cattle about 6 months.

Thanks for all your video’s Larry, I have your spin and roll back videos and I really like the way you go about explaining the various problems one encounters and how to fix them!!.
    Q. At what age is it considered to late to start a mare in cutting training? Would a 6yr old be considered to old???

  4. ltrocha says:

    You are welcome, MsCircleR.
Training a 6yr old is actually an advantage. I’d go for it.

I was curious, do you ever use buffalo for training?

  6. ltrocha says:

Yes, I tried buffalo for two years.
There are pros and cons to using them.
I’d rather use the flag but that is just my personal preference.
Other trainers use buffalo a lot and have good luck with them.

Larry, The mare is looking better and better. I would like to see a video now back on a cow to see how you training has corrected the mare from looking away when going to right. How is your new place coming along?

    @BreakToRide
    Hi Don,
The filly sold to a new home shortly after we shot this video so I don’t have any new footage of her.

I love the new training facility. Five arenas and a great barn. Couldn’t be any better.
    Take care,
    Larry T.
