About how much do horse riding lessons cost?

I really want to start riding horses again. I used to and I only took 3 lessons before getting thrown off 4 years ago. I want to start riding again this summer even though I have large fears of getting near a horse. I need to know how much it generally costs because I’d have to convince my parents to let me because I don’t have a job. I’d only take lessons once a week.

BTW, do you know what type of clothes I’d need to ride a horse?

The price varies from stable to stable and also depends on whether you take private or group lessons. Since you are just getting started you will most likely begin in private lessons. These can range from $20+. In my experience usually they are between 20-45 dollars at the average stable. If you want to give your parents an accurate picture you can call local stables and ask for prices. As for what clothes you need it depends on whether you do english or western lessons. Either way I wouldn’t rush out to buy gear until you know that you want to stick with it. I would start by wearing jeans, boots with a bit of a heel, and a riding helmet (when you find the stable that you will be riding at you can ask them what they expect for clothing). Once you know that this is a sport you are sticking with you can buy proper gear. For english it is typically jodphurs, half chaps, paddock boots and a proper riding helmet. For western it is western riding boots (usually a cowboy boot that is made for riding), jeans, and a proper riding helmet.

It would largely depend on several factors. Location, what kind of riding lessons you want to learn. You need to first get over your fear of horses. They can sense when someone is afraid of them, and will most likely take advantage of that. Depending on where you are and what kind of riding you want to do, lessons can cost from $25.00 an hour to $100.00 an hour.
You need to call some stables in your area to find out the exact cost you can expect to pay. Good luck

  3. if you want to start with the basics yourself and get an understanding of the riding movement patterns then start on my Pilates for horse riders program.
This will educate you about the riding muscles and how to use them.
Once you have trained yourself to a certain point you can add in lessons from and instructor. I know this program will help you read about it it is an easy process.
